Charlotte lectures in Asian art history and Curatorial Studies. She has worked at the National Gallery of Australia as a curator and registrar, and completed her PhD in the early Buddhist art of Bagan at ANU. Her specialist research interest is the Buddhist art of Myanmar, with a focus on Buddhist text image relationships and visual narratives. Charlotte is on study leave in Semester 1 2014 and will be researching in Burma at the Hmawsa Museum in collaboration with staff from the Archaeological Field School at Pyay.

Charlotte Galloway completed her BA in Art History and Curatorship at the Australian National University (ANU), and her PhD in the Buddhist imagery of the early Bagan period, Myanmar. She worked as an Asian art curator at the National Gallery of Australia, and then as Associate Registrar Loans and Exhibitions before returning to ANU to lecture in Asian art history and Curatorial Studies. Dr Galloway is a member of a number of professional organizations including ICOM and Museums Australia, the Association of Asian Studies and Australasian Association of Buddhist Studies. She is on the Management Committee of the ANU's Myanmar Research Centre and is a regular visitor to Myanmar. Most recently Charlotte has been teaching Museology at the Field School of Archaeology in Pyay, where she has also prepared an inventory of the Sri Ksetra Museum collection with local staff. She is also working with the Archaeology Department at the University of Yangon to help set up the Archaeology Museum as a teaching resource. Charlotte has established an undergraduate program in Asian art history, and in 2015 took a group of ANU students to Myanmar on an accredited course to study Myanmar's art history.
