Stegall said Athens' bus system must be more convenient for riders, a view shared by Charlie Maddox, Athens native and seasoned community leader.

is a University alumnus and has served the people of Athens in numerous ways.
He was founding director of Athens Neighborhood Health Center, served on the board of Commissioners of the Athens Housing Authority for 15 years and served as board chairman for the past seven years.
He has also filled leadership roles in various local non-profit organizations.

I've already spent the better part of my life serving the community, even when I wasn't getting paid for it."

Maddox ran for mayor in the previous election cycle, losing in a run-off to incumbent Heidi Davison.
