Dr. Charles Lake Executive Director of Growth Ministries A discipling pastor and author, Charles presently serves as Executive Director of Growth Ministries and Consultant for Discipleship for the Salvation Army Southern Territory. In 1977 he became the founding pastor of Community Church of Greenwood (CCG), Indiana. During the 29 years he served as senior pastor, the church planted ten daughter congregations. They, in turn, helping to create a network of 32 churches, planted 10 congregations in Indiana, and twelve in the country of Brazil, SA. CCG's annual mission budget exceeded half a million dollars, and the network of churches' combined giving was more than $1.2 million. Charles speaks annually overseas at pastor's conferences, missionary retreats, and church dedications. During his pastorate, Charles authored Discipleship Training: An Experience in Training and Accountability (DT) which consists of 10 nine-week levels of small group discipleship training. Translated in nine languages, the DT program is used by churches all over the world, and the Salvation Army adopted it as their tool for making disciples. Charles earned an AB from Asbury College; an M.Div. from Asbury Theological Seminary; an MA from Butler University; and a D.Min. from Asbury Theological Seminary. He and his wife, Vicki, have two married daughters and two grandsons.

In 1977 Dr. Lake became the founding pastor of the Community Church of Greenwood , a unique, independent, interdenominational church in Greenwood, Indiana.He served as Senior Pastor for 28 years.During those years, the church planted 11 daughter congregations, 10 in the Greenwood area and one in Lexington, Kentucky.The daughter churches, in turn, planted 10 congregations in Indiana and Kentucky and twelve in the country of Brazil, SA.The network of churches numbered 32 congregations.During his pastorate, Dr. Lake authored Discipleship Training: An Experience in Training and Accountability.The material, consisting in 10 nine-week levels of small group discipleship training, is being used by churches throughout the US and Canada.It has been translated into 6 different languages.Recently, the Salvation Army adopted the program as their tool for making disciples world-wide. During his 28-year ministry in Greenwood, the church's annual mission budget exceeded a half a million dollars and the network of churches' combined giving over $1.2 million.He is involved annually in overseas speaking engagements which have included national pastor's conferences, missionary retreats and church dedications. Dr. Lake regularly teaches as an Adjunct Professor at Bethel College Graduate School in Mishawaka, Indiana and at the Indianapolis extension of Trinity Evangelical Divinity School . Prior to becoming a pastor in Greenwood, Dr. Lake served for eight years with OMS International, a mission organization headquartered in Greenwood.During that ministry he lived one year in Australia and spoke extensively in the countries of New Zealand, British Isles, South Africa and Canada. Before coming to OMS he pastored for eight years at the World Gospel Church in Terre Haute, Indiana, a church known for its outstanding missions emphasis.He has served as a board member of the Greater Greenwood Chamber of Commerce, OMS International , Overseas Council for Theological Education (now reSource Leadership International , the National Association of Evangelicals , and served as President of the Greenwood Ministerial Association.He also served as a member of the Indianapolis Mayor's Task Force for Family and Neighborhood Projects, as Chairman of the Board of the Indianapolis Care Center and participated in its merger with Wheeler Mission Ministries serving two terms on their Board of Trustees.He chaired the White River Township Growth and Development Task Force and serves on the nominating committee of Leadership Johnson County.He vice-chaired of the Executive Committee for the '99 Indiana Billy Graham Crusade.
