Mr. Hill was born in Janesville, a town in southern Wisconsin.
lived there till he
was five, then moved to Detroit, Michigan, courtesy of his
father's work with Chrysler
was eight, the family returned to Janesville, and he
remained in Wisconsin throughout his
college years, studying in the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater
moved to North Carolina in 1989, as he
had a contact in Greenville, and then taught at a Christian school for eight years, then another eight years in Kinston.
wife was relocated to Durham in 2002, which meant another move for the family.
Mr. Hill then taught at Hillsboro Elementary for one year in a part time position, and at Wake Forest Rolesville Middle School for another year.
Both positions continued even when the school became year-round, but changing school numbers meant that the role was reduced to one position, so Mr. Hill
went to Wakelon Elementary in Zebulon for two years.
That was a very different experience for him, as it was in the outer eastern area, which was a more rural environment.
enjoyed the new facilities and the fact there was a track and big fields for P.E., something he
would love to have at W.E.S. (I'm sure we all agree with him on that front!).
When Mrs. Kelley-Cram decided she
wanted to spend more time with her
family at summer, and moved to a traditional school, our former principal, Mrs. Dennen, contacted Mr. Hill
, and happily for W.E.S., he
agreed to return and has been with us ever since.
has two daughters.
One is starting in N.C. State, majoring in Fashion and Textile Design and the other is a sophomore.
Both of his
daughters attended all the Wakefield schools, including Wakefield Elementary
When Mr. Hill isn't at school, he enjoys playing golf and can also be found announcing for football games at Wakefield High School, and coaching basketball.
This year he is the assistant coach for the Boys' Junior Varsity basketball team.
In the past he has been a Sports Director and coached various sports, including soccer for the Y.M.C.A. One of the baseball teams he coached won a State Championship and three basketball teams were State Runners-Up.
enjoys travelling, and as a result of his
daughter being in the school Color Guard
has travelled around the country during the Fall and Winter sessions.
Outside of the U.S., when he
lived in Wisconsin, he
would often do family trips to Canada.
would love to travel to Italy, particularly Tuscany, Venice and Rome, and would also like the opportunity to test out his
high school German in Germany!
