Rev. Charles Cox Associate Pastor for Connections and Senior Adults
A Charleston, South Carolina native, Charles Cox has served Tabernacle Baptist Church as Associate Pastor for Equipping and Senior Adults since November, 1996. He completed a B.S. Degree in Forestry at the University of Georgia in 1968, and worked in Forest Management and Procurement for 15 years. Charles also served in the Army Reserve from 1968-1974.
Sensing a call to ministry, Charles and his family moved to Louisville, KY in 1983 to attend Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Since receiving the Master of Arts in Christian Education degree in 1985, he has served Heritage Baptist Church, Annapolis, MD (1985-1987); Bull Street Baptist Church, Savannah, GA (1987-1996) and Tabernacle in Carrollton (1996 until present).
Charles has a heart for "equipping the saints" for ministry. He is a Certified Sunday School Equipper and State Special Worker for the Georgia Baptist Convention. In addition, he serves on the State Senior Adult Leadership Team. Locally, Charles serves on the Carrollton Baptist Association Leadership Development Team in the role of Discipleship Director. He has served as President of the Georgia Baptist Religious Education Association. Charles has been active in other state and national organizations. In addition to being a Life Member of the Optimist Club, he is a registered forester in Georgia and South Carolina. He was a contributor to "100 Great Growth Ideas" compiled by Neil Jackson (1990), and has had articles published in Sunday School Leadership magazine and World Mission Journal. Charles has participated in a number of mission trips in the United States and internationally.
