"I truly can't imagine there not being a Mardi Gras," says Charles Bendzans, a 54-year-old graduate of the Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills.Bendzans is a painter at Blaine Kern's Mardi Gras World, where he helps create the elaborate floats that parade through the city in the days leading up to Mardi Gras.
