Name: Dr C J Kong Details: Dr Chang Jing Kong gained her PhD degree in 2004 at the University of Nottingham.She has many years research experience in microstructure characterization of materials and the relationship between microstructure and their mechanical and chemical properties. Dr Kong joined Cranfield University in 2004 and is working on the projects of Variable Polarity Plasma Arc welding Al alloy and Fiber Laser Welding Steel.

Dr C J Kong obtained her PhD at the University of Nottingham at 2004. The main part of research included using SEM, TEM, etc, methods to characterise a HVOF thermal sprayed coating. Prior to this, she worked at the Institute of Mechanics, Chinese Academic of Sciences in Beijing, working in the manufacture, characterisation and mechanical testing of laser surface modification materials, plasma arc spherical power and Al alloy based composites materials. Dr Kong gained her Bachelor degree and masters at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Dalian University of Technology, in China during 1988 and 1995 respectively. She also undertook four years industrial work experience in Benxi Steel and Iron Corporation as an Engineer. Towards the end of 2004, Dr Kong joined Cranfield University as a Research Officer.
