Malindo Air CEO Chandran Rama Muthy, meanwhile, also adds that the tie-up is good for the country.
"Take Singapore as an example, they have so many interline and code shares with many airlines, hence it makes them a leading transit hub. We should emulate that," he adds.

Malindo CEO Chandran Rama Muthy said the LCC is also looking to add new services to medium-haul destinations in Hong Kong, China, and to Jeddah in Saudi Arabia, potentially in early 2016. "We have approval from the Malaysian government to fly to Jeddah and are now working with the General Authority of Civil Aviation of Saudi Arabia to get the landing permit," he said.
The airline also mooted the possibility of expanding its route network in Australia. Earlier this month it launched a new Kuala Lumpur-Perth service, and has said Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne are now being investigated as potential destinations.
Chandran noted that as the domestic Malaysian market is becoming saturated, the carrier will focus more on China, India and ASEAN markets.
He said Malindo is keen to position its home base at Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (KLIA2) as a key transit hub for the region, especially for relatively under-provisioned routes from Australia to India, including Tiruchy in Tamil Nadu.
"The idea is to grow as far as we can ... and back our objective of putting KLIA2 as our transit hub in the region," he said.

Malindo Air chief executive officer Chandran Rama Muthy said the airline is currently awaiting the approval from the local authorities and expected to get the nod by early October.
"The additional new routes for Malindo mark the growth of the airline simultaneously with the growth of its fleet this year," he told reporters after the launch of its first lounge at klia2 here today by Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Abdul Aziz Kaprawi.
Malindo took to the skies in March 2013 with domestic flights and has since grown to operate routes to all major airports in Malaysia and across regional destinations in Indonesia, Thailand, India, Bangladesh, Nepal and Singapore.
Chandran said Malindo would take delivery of an additional four new generation Boeing 737 aircraft by the end of this year.
The airline had grown by leaps and bounds to a fleet of 23 aircraft, comprising 11 ATR72-600 and 12 Boeing 737NG as of August this year, he said.
He said the additional routes would increase the incoming tourists through the airline from the one million tourists recorded last year, out of its total load factor of 2.5 million passengers.
On the Malindo Air Executive Lounge, Chandran said it would be opened from 6am to 10pm daily to cater to the airline's flying guests.

Among those on the maiden flight were Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Abd Aziz Kaprawi, Malindo Air Chief Executive Officer Chandran Rama Muthy and media representatives.
Chandran had said in a recent statement that the airline's international network development in the second half of 2015 supports the company long-term vision to provide travellers with an extensive range of destinations and seamless connectivity from Kuala Lumpur as a regional hub.
