Chalmer Lowe
Chalmer Lowe was a Fire Protection Engineer for 10 years working in high risk industrial facilities such as the Department of Energy's (DOE) nuclear weapons and research facilities (e.g. Y-12, Pantex, Los Alamos National Laboratory, and Oak Ridge National Laboratory). He also worked in the nuclear power industry on projects for the following power plants: Wolf Creek, LaSalle, Dresden, Waterford, Braidwood, Nine-Mile Point and Byron. He participated in the development of specifications and fire hazard analyses for the design of the Spallation Neutron Source in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Mr. Lowe has written and/or performed system testing on a wide range of fire protection systems, including Halon, carbon-dioxide, wet-chemical, dry-chemical, water-based suppression systems, fire alarm systems, etc. Mr. Lowe currently works as a consultant in the information security industry where he does evaluation, testing, design and development of Cross Domain Solutions. He is also an adjunct professor at Champlain College in Vermont where he teaches Computer and Network Security. He served as a senior researcher and team lead (under the direction of Professor Randall Nichols) on the development of the Wireless Information Warfare chapter of the Handbook of Information Security (Wiley Publishing). He has a Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering and a Master's degree in Information Technology, both from the University of Maryland.

Chalmer Lowe - Nexus Technical Services Corporation
Chalmer Lowe has a master's degree in Information Technology and specializes in information security, including intrusion detection, encryption, forensics and information warfare. Chalmer served as senior research and team lead during production of the Wireless Information Warfare chapter of the 3-volume Handbook of Information Security (Wiley Publishing). He recently presented a lecture on defending against Distributed Denial-of Service attacks for the FBI's East Tennessee chapter of Infragard. He also participated in a pre-market evaluation of a commercial partial disk encryption product. Chalmer also has a bachelor's degree and is a Professional Engineer in Fire Protection Engineering. He works for Nexus Technical Services Corporation, an engineering services firm, where he is spearheading the effort to expand their services into the information security arena. Chalmer's fire protection career has focused on protecting facilities critical to the national infrastructure, including; nuclear and non-nuclear power plants, Department of Energy facilities responsible for the assembly, storage and disassembly of nuclear weapons; national laboratories and national food supply logistics firms. He is currently engaged in the development of a 10-week course in operating systems and file structures for forensics analysis students. Chalmer is fluent in Japanese and is an accomplished public speaker, with nearly 15 years worth of teaching experience teaching subjects ranging from English as a second language, computer use, motivational speaking, and religion.
