Catherine T. Willis - A dedicated community activist for many years, Catherine has supported education, the arts and family advocacy. She has been involved in the United Negro College Fund, Friends of Art for Community Enrichment Inc., the Ohio Wesleyan Upward Bound Program and is a member of the SOUL! committee, which helps to promote art from the National Afro-American Museum and Cultural Center. She is currently chairman of the board of the Columbus Youth Foundation, a supporting foundation of The Columbus Foundation. In 1992, Catherine received the YWCA Women of Achievement Award.

Catherine Willis, a founder of Friends of Art for Community Enrichment (FACE), child advocate and mentor was honored at the 2002 Award Event.A former Columbus Public Schools teacher, her focus on education led her to become an active volunteer, supporter and board member of the "I KNOW I CAN" program to guarantee every Columbus Public School student an opportunity to attend college.She initiated the "Chess in the 'Hood" program at the Martin Luther King Jr. branch of the Columbus Metropolitan Library and has been asked to expand the program to several other community library sites.As a long-time trustee of the Columbus Youth Foundation, Mrs. Willis worked with other board members to seek out innovative after-school and summer camp educational and artistic programming for young people from urban areas.Finally, she has also been a passionate champion of Piney Woods Country Life School in Mississippi.She has enabled many local students to attend this remarkable school founded in 1909 to offer African-American students a "head, heart and hands" education.
