Effective immediately, Gunnar Kleveland will assume the role of senior vice president, Integrated Operations, Dr. Cathy Ferrie will serve as senior vice president, Engineering and Matt Hasik will take on the position of senior vice president, Commercial Programs.
Kleveland, Ferrie and Hasik will succeed Pete Riley and Jeff Lowinger in their respective roles as executive vice president, Integrated Operations, and executive vice president, Engineering and Commercial Programs.

Dr. Cathy Ferrie will take on the role of senior vice president, Engineering. Dr. Ferrie joined Bell Helicopter fifteen years ago, serving in technical and leadership positions of increasing responsibility in Engineering. Most recently, she held the position of vice president, Xworx and Research, Development, Test and Evaluation. Under her leadership, the team has made dramatic improvements in advanced research and development efforts for the OH-58 and Bell 407 armed aircraft demonstrators, next generation rotor blade and hub technologies, as well as advanced materials and analytical tool development. Dr. Ferrie holds a Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering from Syracuse University, a Master's degree and a Doctorate in Aerospace Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. Dr. Ferrie is the Southwest Region director-at-large for the American Helicopter Society and is part of the NASA Aeronautics Roundtable.

Dr. Catherine Ferrie Dr. Catherine Ferrie is the Director of Bell Helicopter's Xworx and Test and Evaluation center in Arlington, Texas joining the company in 1997.
Dr. Ferrie and her team develop technologies for integration into Bell Helicopter's next generation products. The team at Xworx develops and tracks emerging technologies from a broad range of sources that can benefit the rotorcraft industry. Dr. Ferrie is responsible for efforts that range from basic research through concept development, rapid prototyping and testing. She also oversees the successful execution of all technology and manufacturing development programs at Bell Helicopter including all aircraft test and evaluation programs.
The American Helicopter Society (AHS) awarded Dr. Ferrie the prestigious Francois Xavier Bagnoud Award in 2002. This award is presented to an AHS member, under 30 years old, who has made a significant contribution to the advancement of the rotorcraft industry. Additionally, Dr. Ferrie earned the Harry T. Jensen award from AHS for her work supporting Rotorcraft Damage Tolerance efforts.
Dr. Ferrie supports the Expanding Your Horizons program, which is designed to encourage young women in 6th-8th grades to pursue careers in science and engineering, by developing and presenting a workshop entitled "Born to Fly."
Dr. Ferrie received her Master of Science and Ph.D. in aerospace engineering from Georgia Tech, and her Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from Syracuse University. She is an active member of the American Helicopter Society where she served as the Deputy Director of Vehicle Integrity on the Technical Council and currently serves as the Southwest Director at Large on the Board of Directors.

As chief of advanced sciences and materials, Catherine Ferrie, PhD, manages R&D activities in the advanced sciences and materials group at Bell Xworx (Ft Worth, TX).It's her job to keep track of emerging technologies that can benefit the rotorcraft industry and Bell Helicopter Textron in particular.
She leads a group of MEs, EEs and aerospace engineers who support the core engineers and program managers.They help identify issues and work out solutions at an early stage in the cycle, "serving as the core folks' eyes and ears to solve tomorrow's issues, providing a voice into and out of research," she says.
Ferrie's team interfaces with universities, small businesses and government labs in areas from structures and materials to sensor technology and aeronautics work.They also look for technologies in other industries that can be applied to rotorcraft."This job requires an inventive spirit and the ability to think creatively," she says.
Ferrie has a BS in aerospace engineering from Syracuse University (Syracuse, NY).She completed a PhD in aerospace engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1997.She joined Bell Helicopter as a senior engineer in the airframe stress group, but soon moved into the research structures group.
Ferrie is active in Bell's leadership club and has served as club president.She's also involved in the American Helicopter Society.In 2005 she was selected to participate in "Leadership Texas," a program that gets a hundred women leaders together each year to exchange ideas and share experiences."It was inspiring and interesting to step out of what you know and engage on a different level," she says.
Also dear to her heart is the national "expanding your horizons" program ( that tries to interest middle school girls in math and science careers."Opening the realm of possibility for these young women is so gratifying," she says.
