Cary Blanchette, who helped found the Scripps Healthcare Foundation's planned giving program in La Jolla, Calif., has been hired to head up the Memorial Health System Foundation.
Blanchette served as director of planned giving at the University of San Diego and as vice president at Sharp Healthcare Foundation before founding his own consulting company in 2001.
With a master's degree in leadership from the University of San Diego and a bachelor's from Central Connecticut State University, Blanchette will oversee the Memorial Foundation, which invests 100 percent of contributions received into Memorial in an effort to help support the mission to provide highest quality health care.
In recent years, donations to the foundation have enabled Memorial to purchase digital mammography machines and cooling cap technology, which may halt or reverse brain damage in infants deprived of oxygen at birth, and build a playground for sick children at Memorial Hospital
for Children, Memorial said in a press release Friday.
"I hope to engage the people of the Pikes Peak region to learn more about the health system and the foundation, and invite them to partner with us around changing lives and saving lives,'' Blanchette
in a prepared statement.
