Mr. Larsen was born April 25, 1925, in San Francisco, to Axel and Carrie Larsen.As the swing era came to an end, Mr. Larsen went back to school to attain a bachelor of arts in music and teachers credential from San Francisco State University.He spent many years as the conductor of the Jefferson High School band program in Daly City from the late '50s to mid '70s.Because of the prominence in the community of the marching band from Jefferson, he was often referred to as the "Music Man of Daly City."After his retirement, he continued his musical contributions and became a member of the Las Galinas Valley Sanitary District Non-Marching Band in Marin County and was the assistant conductor for some years in the '80s.He also founded the North Peninsula Wind and Percussion Ensemble, the first community band in Daly City.
