At one time Carolyn grew orchids under lights in an area that occupied half of her basement. Carolyn will discuss the basics of growing orchids in the home. She collected orchids in the wild from different parts of the world when it was still permissable and has seen the different ecosystems that orchids grow in.

Carolyn Butcher will give a slide show presentation on "Growing Orchids For Novices" 2:30 p.m., Sunday, May 17, at the Michigan Orchid Society meeting. Butcher is a past president of the Michigan Orchid Society and has been an active member for more than 25 years.

Carolyn Butcher announced that the MAOC is sponsoring an essay contest; 500 words, 'My Travels with Orchids.
Carolyn Butcher invited all members, new and old to get involved.
Dave called the meeting to order again at 3:58 PM and the collected ballots were given to Trustee Carolyn Butcher.
Carolyn Butcher made a motion to approve, Dale Garden seconded, motion approved.

Trustee Carolyn Butcher discussed the non-voting chair positions and introduced the present position holders. She noted the types of issues the Board voted on at meetings and gave her opinion that these chairpersons should be able to vote at the Board meetings.
Carolyn Butcher motioned, Joe Peterson seconded, motion was approved.
Carolyn Butcher had several announcements about the Palm Sunday Show. She mentioned that bookmarks with show and club information were available for distribution. She noted that volunteers were needed at the shed at 4:30 pm Thursday, at the hall for set-up at 5:00 pm Thursday, at the hall on Friday for set-up and to help vendors unload, and at the hall Sunday at 5:00 pm for tear down. She mentioned that dinner would be available on Friday for volunteers and that there would be a 7 am breakfast and a lunch for clerks and judges. Carolyn also noted that volunteers were needed to sell raffle tickets at the show.
Carolyn Butcher presented the Trustee Report for Glenda Lask.
Carolyn Butcher then reported that the Trustees and Don Farrelly had completed the yearly audit.

Carolyn Butcher announced that M.O.S. member Alan Marsee had generously donated his orchid collection to the Club for the raffle.
Carolyn Butcher informed the members present that Frances Fisher had passed away the week before and that some of the non-orchid plants at the auction were hers.

Carolyn Butcher thanked everyone who helped with the MOS show, with special thanks to Dave Tigertt for all his work to make the show a success.
Carolyn Butcher reminded members that plants for the show need to be brought in as early as possible and Don Farrelly discussed the importance of registering the plants early, making a list of the plants being entered, and labelling the pots with owner identification.

• Marge Laski thanked Diane Burton, Carolyn Butcher, Carinne Korany, and Eileen Otto for all their hard work in putting the show on this year.
Carolyn Butcher presented a review of this years show expenses. The Trustees had been concerned due to the costs at the new location.
