Caroline is registered with the British Psychological Society as a chartered Psychologist in both Clinical and Forensic categories. Since 1993, she has specialised in working therapeutically with women in secure settings, both individually and in groups. She has a post graduate diploma in Women's studies. She is probably best known for her active contribution to the training and development of multidisciplinary staff teams working in dedicated women's services. She was selected to be one of a small group of accredited trainers who deliver, on a national basis, the course 'Working with Women with Mental Health Needs in Secure Settings' which formed part of the Department of Health's Gender Training Initiative.

Caroline trained as a clinical psychologist at Rampton Special Hospital, qualifying in 1983. She is currently working as a Consultant Clinical/Forensic Psychologist in a new women's low secure unit. Over her 19 years experience as a professional psychologist, she has worked in a number of areas including occupational psychology and workplace counselling. She has specialised in working with both perpetrators and survivors of child sexual abuse, and in working with women who are non-abusing partners of men who abuse their children. Caroline has worked in dedicated services for women detained in secure hospitals since 1993, initially in a high secure hospital, then in the first women-only medium secure unit in the UK. She has a post graduate diploma in Women's Studies and has been active in speaking at conferences about women detained in secure settings. She is also concerned about the needs of women staff and has facilitated teams exploring gender issues in their own working relationship.
