It is with great sadness and sense of loss that I report the passing on April 26 of M D Publications President and co-founder Carol Langsford at the age of 79. Carol and her late husband, Les, formed the parent company of Undercar Digest and Transmission Digest in 1976.

Carol met Les through their mutual love for music.
...
Carol sang a couple of numbers with the group. The couple were married in 1952.
I have known Carol and the Langsford family for most of my life, starting with a swim team to which her children and I both belonged more than 40 years ago. It has been comfortable and familiar to spend these years working with the Langsford family.
Carol used to tell me that since my mother had passed it had become her job to nag me about my smoking or gaining weight. She was, at once, my boss, my friend and certainly my surrogate mother.
...
Carol was both interested and active in politics, holding numerous offices within the Republican Party including ward committeewoman, state legislative district chair, Seventh Congressional District Chair and president of the Greene County Republican Women's Club. Carol also was a member of the Springfield chapter of the American Association of Women Accountants.
She served 17 years in elective office as Greene County treasurer, giving up that position in 1991 to devote her full-time attention to her family's growing publishing businesses.
