Bishop, as he

Bishop McCarter was presented a resolution from the Mayor of Rocky Mount for the outreach assistance provided by the church during the Hurricane Floyd relief effort.
In 1997, he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate from the James W. Teamer School of Religion, located in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The honorary degree was conferred upon him due to the tireless effort he
has given in making our region a better place to live.
For over fifty years, Bishop received unwavering support and encouragement from his
loving wife, Virginell Wilson-McCarter, whom God called home in 2005.
wife served as a steadfast partner to him throughout the years.
was a faithful partner in the ministry and an affectionate mother to their four children and thousands of spiritual children. . All four children have been called into the ministry and exemplify what it looks like when given the proper spiritual heritage.
