Carlson Tong
Carlson Tong was appointed the Chairman of the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) by the HKSAR Chief Executive, effective 20 October 2012.
Mr Tong is a UK Chartered Accountant and a Hong King certified public accountant. He joined KPMG UK in 1979, became a partner of the Hong Kong firm in 1989 and was appointed Chairman of KPMG China and Hong Kong in 2007. He became Chairman of the KPMG Asian Pacific Region and a member of the global board in 2009. He retired from KPMG in 2011.
Since his retirement, Mr Tong has been active in public and community service. Currently he is a member of the HKSAR Exchange Fund Advisory Committee, the Chairman of the English Schools Foundation and the Chairman of the Hong Kong Sports Institute Limited.
Prior to joining the SFC, Mr Tong had been actively involved in the regulatory work of the securities and futures markets. He served as a member of the Main Board and GEM Listing Committee of SEHK(2002-06), and was its Chairman (2004-06). At the SFC, he was a member of the Takeovers and Mergers Panel (2001-09) and a member of the Dual Filing Advisory Group (2002-08). He was a Council Member of HKICPA (2001-08) and it's Vice President in 2006.

Carlson Tong currently holds several board memberships including: the University Grants Committee, MPF Schemes Appeal Board and IFRS Advisory Council. He is also Chairman of the English Schools Foundation, Chairman of the Employees' Compensation Insurance Levies Management Board, and Vice Chairman of the Hong Kong Sports Institute.
He has extensive experience in leading international professional firms. He joined KPMG UK in 1979 and returned to Hong Kong in 1985. He was the Chairman of KPMG China from 2007 to 2011 and Chairman of KPMG ASPAC from 2009 to 2011. He retired from KPMG on 1 April 2011 after having been with the firm for 32 years.
He was also the Chairman of the Main Board and GEM Listing Committee of The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong (2006-2008) and member of the Listing Committee (2002-2006).
He is a JP, an Honorary Fellow of the Lingnan University, a UK chartered accountant and a Hong Kong CPA.
