Home Board of Directors Board of Directors Carlene Ashworth Carlene Ashworth Past National President- American Legion Auxiliary 2010-2011 World's largest women's patriotic service organization serving our veterans, active duty military and their families since 1919. The American Legion Auxiliary members are the wives, mothers, daughters, and granddaughters of veterans who have served in the US military beginning with the end of World War One. This organization is affiliated with but separately chartered from The American Legion, the world's largest service organization for active duty and military veterans. Carlene served as the State American Legion Auxiliary President in 1993-1994 and was a National Chairman of the various American Legion Auxiliary Committees for fifteen years before being elected as the National President for the term 2010-2011 in September of 2010 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. During her tenure as National President Carlene traveled to every state in the nation and around the world visiting Veteran hospitals, Homeless veteran's shelters, military bases and other facilities that serve our veterans and our military. She had the privilege of visiting with wounded warriors in Landstuhl, Germany prior to their return to the US to Walter Reed Hospital in Bethesda, MD. She also visited troops in Seoul, Korea, France, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, Taiwan and Hawaii. She was privileged and honored to lay a wreath and participate in the D-Day Ceremonies on June 6, 2011 in honor of our many soldiers buried in these overseas cemeteries in and around Normandy, France. Professional Background- After spending most of her adult life as an accountant, Carlene changed her life course after serving as the American Legion Auxiliary National President and took a year off to go back to school and graduated with honors in December, 2012 as a Massage Therapist with the intent of serving our wounded warriors, our veterans and all active duty military and their families to help them recover from the trauma of their injuries, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and their numerous deployments to the 130 countries where military are stationed, particularly Iraq and Afghanistan.
