Carl Peterson
Carl D. Peterson is he is best known as the former president, general manager, and chief executive officer of the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League. He served in those roles from 1989-2008. Peterson hired four coaches for the Chiefs during his tenure: Marty Schottenheimer, Gunther Cunningham, Dick Vermeil, and Herman Edwards.
...
Peterson had been praised for hiring quality coaches, and re-establishing a winning tradition for a franchise that was moribund by the late 1980s. Prior to Peterson's arrival, Kansas City had only made one playoff appearance in the previous 18 years. The Kansas City Chiefs were the winningest team in the NFL for the decade of the 1990s by percentage, qualified the playoffs in six of seven seasons from 1990 to 1997, and reached the AFC Championship game following the 1993 season.
After leaving Kansas City, Peterson became the Chairman of USA Football.

Carl Peterson final words and/or shots January 7, 2009 by bigknoxy · Leave a Comment Filed under: Carl Peterson, News
Within the last week Carl Peterson has oficially said goodbye to role with the Chiefs. His final press conference can be seen here: VIDEO: Carl Peterson Final Press Conference
I must admit that I was really excited when I heard the news of 'King Carl' leaving, but I also realize that has done a lot of good for the Chiefs. In his first 10 years Carl was a great leader for the Chiefs and the Chiefs were very successfull and for that I say 'thank you Carl'. As far as his last years in KC, it makes me wonder if he just doesn't know when to say goodbye...
Now, as King Carl was saying his goodbye (in typical Carl Peterson fashion) he had to take one last shot at the media. I just laugh at this because we all know how Carl felt about the media, but Adam Teicher had a little something to say about this on his vlog:

Herm (and Carl) would have been in a tough spot, they would have been asking themselves this question:
...
While the Chiefs seem committed to this youth movement we all know that in Carl Peterson's history he has always tried to win now. How do we know that he wouldn't try to pull this again in one last "last ditch" effort to regain some respect (what little he has left).

Carl Peterson, Chairman
USA Football, the sport's national governing body on youth and amateur levels, announced Carl Peterson as its chairman on June 16, 2009.
A successful football scout, coach and NFL team executive for more than 40 years, Peterson holds a key leadership role within the independent non-profit organization.
Peterson, best known as one of the NFL's most successful team executives with the Kansas City Chiefs (1989-2008), cut his teeth in the game as a high school coach before advancing as a coach on the college Division II and Division I-A levels from 1966-75. After serving as receivers coach at his alma mater UCLA (1972-75), Peterson followed Bruins head coach Dick Vermeil to the Philadelphia Eagles in 1976 to become the team's director of player personnel. Peterson helped the Eagles earn their first Super Bowl berth in 1980.
In 1982, Peterson was hired as the general manager and president of the United States Football League's Philadelphia Stars, where he led the team to a 7-1 postseason record and two league championships before joining the Chiefs in December 1988. The Chiefs had made just one playoff appearance in the 15 seasons prior to Peterson's arrival. Under his leadership, the team enjoyed 13 winning seasons, advanced to the postseason nine times and earned four AFC West divisional championships.
Peterson presides over USA Football's Board of Directors and offers insight toward USA Football initiatives.
