Seven-year board member Carl Meyering was re-elected with 5 , 635 votes.Meyering , 51 , 640 Oakleigh Ave. NW , is a sales representative for J&L/GRS Industrial Supply Co. in Grand Rapids.He was appointed in 1994 to fill the seat of a commissioner who left before his term expired.He was elected in 1995 to serve a full term , and was Board chairman in 1997 and 1998.Meyering said he is glad to be on the board again , particularly to see the completion of the city-wide library renovation projects.Though he was glad that none of the three open seats are going empty , Meyering said he had hoped for a full slate of candidates on Tuesday's ballot.Only Meyering and Douglas filed in time to have their names on the ballot.Somehow we've got to make this more attractive so people get a jump on this thing , Meyering said.

The Board of Library Commissioners of the Grand Rapids Public Library re-elected Carl Meyering as President and Anne Armstrong Cusack as Vice President/Secretary at their December meeting.
Carl Meyering has served on the board since June 1994. He has previously served as board president in 1997, 1998, and 2007. "The Library continues to be one of the gems of the cultural community and adds to the quality of life for all residents of Grand Rapids," Meyering, a customer service representative for Production Tool Supply remarked.
