Dr. Carl Lobitz
Carl Lobitz Carl Lobitz Carl Lobitz Carl Lobitz attended Weslaco High School where he studied trombone with the band director, Joseph Bellamah. He was a member of the TMEA All-State Band winning first chair four years. Lobitz studied trombone with Simone Mantia, New York City; Bernard Fitzgerald, UT Austin; Emory Remington, Eastman School of Music; and Buddy Baker, University of North Colorado. Carl Lobitz received his Bachelor Degree, UT Austin; Masters Degree. University of North Teas; and Doctorate, University of Oklahoma. He taught Low Brass at Univeristy of Oklahoma where he founded the OU Trombone Choir, composing a “Symphony for Trombone Choir.†He served as trombone clinician at the Oklahoma Bandmasters Association. Lobitz was appointed Assistant Professor of Music, Director of Bands, and trombone teacher at Montana Music Educators Association. As a symphonic trombonist, Lobitz has performed with UT Symphonic Band, University of Oklahoma Band and wind ensembles from Holmes, John Jay, John Marshall and the San Antonio Municipal Band. Carl Lobitz is currently a band clinician, private teacher, and free-lance trombone and euphonium performer. He performs with the Al Sturchio Orchestra and his brass quintet is an active musical group.
