Schneider Electric country manager Carl Kleynhans said discussions on a deal to succeed the Actom-Areva arrangement, which expired in July, had been under way since 2010.
He said the fact that Schneider had an in-country presence made it necessary to make adjustments, but he was convinced that the new arrangement would benefit both companies and its South African customers. Speaking at the event, Schneider Electric South Africa president Carl Kleynhans said the company had also agreed to place qualified students in a working environment so that they could be mentored by a qualified artisan within the industry for a period of six months.
"This is to ensure that they display the necessary competence to operate successfully within this sector," he added. We truly believe that the centre will be instrumental in increasing our local skills pool, empowering graduates to start their own businesses and, ultimately, creating broader employment opportunities," Kleynhans noted. "We hope this will also be continued in other parts of the country, so that we can continue improving the skills coming to the market," he added.
Earlier on, the APC by Schneider Electric outgoing Vice President Mr. Carl Kleynhans and Dennis Coupe (EMEA VP Operations) presented the award and congratulated Coscharis Technologies for the feat and also for qualifying to attend the Conference which was based on sales performance recorded in the year 2009.
