Caleb Dolan, executive director of KIPP Schools in Massachusetts, said the program pays for room and board, and provides a generous stipend for the interns.
He said the program is highly competitive, with 10,000 KIPP alumni across the country. Gonzalez, a junior at Lesley University, said she applied for the program in early November, and found out she was accepted the following month, but didn't learn that she had been accepted into Warren's office for the summer until the end of March. "I was super excited," she said. As a political science and global studies major, she said the internship is very aligned into her career path. She said she'll be focused on Capitol Hill tours and working with constituents and their issues they bring to the table. She said she'll be specifically focused on immigration and educational issues, which will include research.
