NORTHAMPTON - Eva Thomson of ... [cached]

NORTHAMPTON - Eva Thomson of the Northampton firm Thomson Financial Management, at 32 Masonic St., was invited to participate in the seventh annual Barron's Top Women Advisors Summit hosted by Barron's magazine to promote best practices in the industry and the value of advice to the investing public.

Caring for the Future (Newsletter Archives - Issue) [cached]

It was not a traditional gift that Eva Thomson made to the Caring for the Future campaign, but it was indeed a gem-a three-carat ruby ring, in a gold, oval-shaped setting, surrounded by two rows of diamonds.

Eva, the owner of Thomson Financial Management in Northampton since 2002, is one who firmly believes in the importance of philanthropy, and she puts education and health as top priorities.
She and her husband, David Artzerounian, MD, even have a tradition for determining their annual giving. Each January 1, they sit in front of the fire in their Hadley home and decide on goals for the coming year that range from family and friends to work, health, financial objectives and giving. Then, they create a budget based on those goals.
Last spring, Eva met Diane Dukette, Cooley's development director, at a community gathering, and Eva learned about the hospital's expansion and the Caring for the Future campaign.Last spring, Eva met Diane Dukette, Cooley's development director, at a community gathering, and Eva learned about the hospital's expansion and the Caring for the Future campaign.
Then, Eva remembered the lovely pieces of jewelry she had received over the years, jewelry she often had thought she would like to share for a good cause; she knew she had found that cause."I asked Cooley Dickinson's development staff about giving the jewelry," Eva says."They were great. They got it.They made it really easy to give that kind of gift."
Eva says her pledge to the Caring for the Future campaign expanded into a three-year gift, where, each year, she will donate another piece of jewelry.Next year, she believes, she will offer up the bracelet that matches the ruby ring.
The hospital will sell the ruby ring -and other like gifts from Eva-and use the proceeds to further its mission.
"It feels wonderful to be a small contributor to something that I believe is going to have a big impact on the region," she says.
