So those two things make it difficult," said C. Roger Moss, director of recreation and producer of the Podunk Bluegrass Festival in East Hartford since 2004.
Moss said it costs about $150,000 to host the festival, which is run by volunteers. When the festival was held in East Hartford, presenting sponsors for several years were Pratt and Whitney and USA Hauling & Recycling, based in Enfield. But when organizers moved the festival to Norwich earlier this year, Moss said, big-name backers declined to come back because they didn't have employees in the area. Moss said he's met with local businesses to drum up support for the event, and he expects more interest as its opening draws closer. "People still don't know who we are, what we are and what the value is of having us here, but it's going to happen," Moss said. "A bluegrass festival is just ideal, so when Roger approached us, we were definitely on board." Moss said officials are considering other incentives to lure in sponsors, including use of the stadium's skyboxes as corporate suites. He also has applications in with major businesses, such as Subway and Stop & Shop, for marketing opportunities. So those two things make it difficult," said C. nd there were festival promoters like Leah Ross of Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion and C. Roger Moss of the Podunk Bluegrass Music Festival to add the festivals’ viewpoints to the discussion.

Roger Moss of the Podunk Bluegrass Festival will join us on-air this Sunday, too, to talk about the rest of the great acts performing and fun stuff happening at Podunk this year.
Who knows? He may even have a one-day pass to the festival to give away to a lucky caller...
