Elton Crider earned his AHS diploma in 1948 and was an elementary teacher in the Tyrone Area School District until his retirement in 1992.
Both are active volunteers for the Retired Senior Volunteer Program and have logged 21,000 hours â€" primarily at the Altoona Regional Health System, Bon Secours Hospital Campus.
They were part of a small group of local people who helped re-establish the Altoona Area High School Alumni Association
in 1989. Elton Crider is a member of the AAHS Alumni Council, the organization's governing body, and serves as the curator of the Alumni Museum, which is on the second floor of the Altoona Area Public Library.He is active on the Blair County Historical Society board of directors and serves as the official bell ringer to commemorate the signing of the Declaration of Independence every Fourth of July.
