KSB members Byron Haire, Stan Sheppard, Katherine Weeks (also with the Garden Club) and Lisa Guidos along with Caroline Pope of the Georgia Forestry Commission helped Gloria Parker and Marti Odom of the Screven County Garden Club plant two trees at SCES.

Co-Chairman Byron Haire reported that several banners advertising the GAC have been erected around town.  An Earth Day celebration will be held in the park in Millen on May 1 from 9am - 1pm.  Fifth graders from Screven, Burke, and Jenkins Counties will be present.  Bill Revesz volunteered to check out the "GA on my Mind" event at the Welcome Center (April 16) to help determine if we want to participate in the activity next year.

Warren will be presenting a report on the consolidation of the county's dumpster sites (and possibly the manned collection site).  This issue may come up for a vote at the meeting.  Byron moved (seconded by Harriet) that KSB ask to be on the agenda to speak about this issue.  The motion passed and Bill agreed to be the spokesperson.  All KSB members are urged to be present at the Commission meeting on Tuesday, March 24 at 7pm.

Committee member Byron Haire reported that KSB volunteers participated in a recycling program on January 16 for a group of 6th-8th graders at SCMS.  KSB also participated in the City of Sylvania's first Arbor Day celebration on February 17.  There was a good turnout for this event.  The Welcome Center will host "GA on my Mind" in April.  KSB's participation will be discussed at the March meeting.

A discussion was held about whether KSB wanted to sponsor a youth baseball, softball, or T-ball team again this year.  Byron made a motion that we donate $250 to be used wherever it is most needed and Elease seconded.  The motion was approved.

Byron Haire reported on his participation in the GA Forestry Commission's "Earth Day at Magnolia Springs" on May 2.  He said he used this opportunity to talk to the 5th graders about recycling and litter prevention.  He suggested that we reach out and talk to groups like the 4-H Clubs and church groups and to solicit their help with our mission.

A lengthy discussion followed regarding the voting rights and requirements of Ex-officio and honorary members.  A motion was made by Byron Haire and seconded by Elease Brown to strike honorary membership from the proposed modified bylaws.  Everyone was reminded that any changes to the bylaws must be approved by the County Commissioners.
