BRYAN SAMUDIO - SPORTS Bryan Samudio has always loved sports. In fact, his love for sports goes back to the time when his father played minor league baseball. Now, he's doing something he has always enjoyed. In 1995, Bryan joined KOLO as a sports producer. He began reporting about local sports not long after that and is now News Channel 8's sports anchor.Bryan says he can't believe he gets paid for doing something he loves.Bryan graduated from the University of Nevada in 1996 with a degree in broadcast journalism. Bryan says some of his favorite highlights of being a sportscaster are the interviews he did with San Francisco 49er wide receiver Jerry Rice, boxing champion Oscar de la Hoya, and basketball great Michael Jordan. He played in the 1998 Legends baseball game at Reno's Moana Stadium and hit a double off of Vida Blue, a former San Francisco Giants pitcher. He says he'll never forget that game!Bryan was born in 1972 in Carmichael, California and grew up in Placerville, California. In high school, Bryan played baseball and was a sprinter on the Ponderosa High School track team. Some of his records still stand today and in 1990 he competed in the high school cross-country national championships. While he doesn't have the time to play as much as he'd like, Bryan enjoys playing golf, any kind of water sport and, of course, baseball. Be sure to watch Bryan every week night on News Channel 8 for a complete wrap-up of all the days sports scores and highlights.
