Bruce Tuttle, District Superintendent

The Danville District Superintendent is The Rev. Bruce Tuttle, former director of Congregational Development and Evangelism for the Virginia Conference. 'Bruce will bring a deep well of proven pastoral leadership to the Cabinet,' said Bishop Charlene Kammerer. 'His passions in ministry include evangelism and disciple-making. We will welcome him gladly!' 'What an honor to be appointed to the Danville District,' said Tuttle. 'As is the case in the other 17 districts, the same is true for this fine district: it is chock full of faithful and visionary United Methodists who continue to discern God's will for their churches and themselves. I look forward to joining them in seeking to dream God's dream for growing the Kingdom in this diverse region of the conference.'
Tuttle graduated from Virginia Tech with a degree in history and taught at the high school and community college level. While serving as the lay leader at St. Matthew's UMC in Goochland County, he accepted a call to ministry. While attending seminary at Duke, Tuttle served Mount Olivet UMC in Pittsylvania County. In 1986 he was the founding pastor of Courthouse Community UMC in Virginia Beach. He went on to serve Lynnhaven UMC, also in Virginia Beach. In 2000 and 2004 he was elected a clergy member of the conference delegation to General and Jurisdictional Conferences. Tuttle and his wife Rebecca have two grown children and two grandchildren.

Today the Pastors Training Institute of Ukraine ministers under the direction of BIEM Missionary Bruce Tuttle. Pastor Tuttle was a frequent teacher in 2-week seminars since 1997. In 2005, he and his wife, Natalie, moved to Bila Tserkva. They left behind a healthy and stable local church in Reading, Pennsylvania, which he had planted and pastored for almost 30 years.

Some of our courses are taught by Ukrainian believers, some by visiting professors and pastors from America and elsewhere, and others by Pastor Tuttle.
