State Street Research Names Bruce Garelick, CFA Senior Technology Analyst

BOSTON, MA, December 11, 2003 - State Street Research & Management Company, one of the nation's first investment management organizations, announced today that Bruce Garelick, CFA, has joined the firm as a senior technology analyst.He will lead the firm's technology research efforts supporting all equity teams and investment products.Garelick has over 6 years of investment industry experience and will report to Ajay Mehra, head of equity research.

Garelick joins State Street Research from Loomis, Sayles & Company, where he served as vice president for technology equity research.He managed a research team as a sector captain, covering the semiconductor, semiconductor capital equipment, communications ICs, personal computer and enterprise hardware industries.He was also responsible for managing technology investments and served as lead manager on the firm's technology hedge fund.Previously, Garelick served as a marketing equity analyst at Willis Corroon Corporation.
Garelick earned a B.A. in political science from Vanderbilt University and an M.B.A. with a concentration in finance from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
