Bronwyn Somerville was appointed APG Principal Executive Officer in December 2012.
Her position is supported by funding provided by the government of China over two years. This is Bronwyn's second engagement with the APG, having previously spent five years with the Secretariat from 2002-2007 as a consultant responsible for developing and overseeing the APG's technical assistance and training programme. In 2007 Bronwyn was appointed as the first Executive Secretary of the Egmont Group where she was responsible for establishing the Secretariat as a new international organisation based in Toronto, Canada. Bronwyn is a New Zealand citizen and holds qualifications in the social sciences and criminology. She has had an extensive public service career as a Senior Advisor in the New Zealand Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet; Chair of the New Zealand Interagency Group on Money Laundering; and Director of the New Zealand Crime Prevention Unit and the New South Wales, Australia, Crime Prevention Division. News now reaches us that Bronwyn Somerville, who was at the forefront of much of that work, has been appointed as the Executive Secretary of the Egmont Group Secretariat and will leave the APG at the end of June 07.She has been a great asset to the work of the APG and its partners - I'm sure all those who have worked with her will be sad to see her go, but wish her all the best in her new post.
