Brittany Rainey

A Florida native Brittany Rainey grew up in Palm Harbor, Florida enjoying the severe weather the state has so often. Watching the news every morning sparked her desire to be a part of the news and media. Her love of the weather made it a perfect fit to become a broadcast meteorologist. Ever since then she has worked to make that dream a reality. She joined the FIRST ALERT weather team at KECI-TV in July, 2008.
She attended Palm Harbor University High School where she enrolled in the International Baccalaureate program. A rigorous program designed to ensure the students success in higher education. There she won an award for the highest performing student in her Organic Chemistry class. She left high school not only with her high school diploma but a diploma from the IB program as well.
Her hard work in high school paid off in college, as she was able to obtain her degree in 3 years. She graduated from Florida State University with a B.S. in Meteorology and a minor in Mathematics. While at FSU she was a member Women in Math, Science, and Engineering who accorded her numerous Academic Achievement Awards. Brittany is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society as well as Chi Epsilon Pi Meteorological Honor Society. Despite her teachers advice to attend graduate school she decided to pursue her dream, a career in broadcast meteorology.
Giving into her love of dance she became a member of the Bellydancers at Florida State, performing in shows throughout Tallahassee. She also participated in the 4FSU Weather Show, a half an hour show Monday-Friday produced completely by students.
She also repeatedly interned at ABC Action News in Tampa with the morning Meteorologist.
After applying all over the country she landed in Missoula, Montana. Driving across the country with her little dog, Squiggy. He is a 1 1/2 year old Italian Greyhound/Miniature Pinscher mix that she rescued from the Bay Area Greyhound Association. She says Missoula is nothing like her hometown, but is looking forward to experiencing all 4 seasons.

TULSA - Brittany joined the 2News Weather Team in October of 2012. She is very excited to be in Oklahoma and have the opportunity to cover more severe storms.
Her love of weather started when she was in elementary school. She would wake up an hour early before school just to watch the news and especially the weather broadcast. Growing up in Florida she was fascinated by the strong afternoon storms brought on by the sea breeze. During hurricanes she was glued to the television, watching the meteorologists track the storm's path and its development.
Ever since then she has worked to become a meteorologist. She attended Florida State University and earned her Bachelor's of Science in Meteorology and a minor in mathematics.
After graduation she headed way out west to Missoula, Montana for her first job. Working as the weekend meteorologist. There she gained experience in forecasting and surviving blizzards, wind chills to 40 below, and copious amounts of snow.
Next she landed in Hastings, Nebraska. She started as the weekend meteorologist then moved into the weekday evening position. Once again she forecasted blizzards as well as record heat. And covered numerous severe storms.
From there she moved to Huntington, West Virginia as the weekend meteorologist. She covered weather for the entire state. Putting together separate forecasts for four different regions each weekend.
