The Daily Advertiser of Lafayette, La., has named Brian Tolley as executive editor.
also will oversee the Opelousas Daily World.
Brian most recently was executive editor of The Fayetteville, N.C., Observer.
In addition to his
print experience, Brian
has extensive digital expertise, leading efforts to transform the traditional print-centric operation in Fayetteville to one that is more multi-platform oriented.
developed and launched several niche publications and micro Web sites aimed at delivering key audiences to the newspaper's advertisers.
also developed and launched a number of social media initiatives.
was in Fayetteville, in 2005, the newspaper won first-place honors for general excellence in the largest circulation category in the North Carolina Press Association
Better Newspaper Contest, the first in the newspaper's history.
In 2006, The Observer was recognized with a first-place award for its Web site in NCPA judging.
Before joining the Observer, Brian was assistant managing editor of The State in Columbia, S.C.
He spent 11 years at The Palm Beach Post, holding sports, metro and news editing positions.
He started his career in 1984 at The News-Journal in Daytona Beach, Fla.
