(Nasdaq:SCON) ("STI"), a world leader in the development and production of high temperature superconducting (HTS) materials and associated technologies, announced Dr. Brian Moeckly, Director of Materials Research and Development for STI, will present at the Materials Research Society (MRS) Spring Meeting on April 26th at 4:00 p.m. PDT in San Francisco.

Dr. Moeckly will present in Symposium VV: "Future Directions in High-Temperature Superconductivity---New Materials and Applications. His presentation, which is titled: Fabrication and In-field Measurement of HTS Films on Simplified Templates for Low-cost Coated Conductors, will report on critical current measurements of second generation (2G) HTS coated conductors as a function of magnetic field magnitude and direction. Dr. Moeckly will discuss the high-magnetic-field test results that were completed in January, 2011 for a 2G HTS wire sample that was produced by STI and Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). The outstanding critical current results were achieved on samples that were produced without requiring the addition of artificial pinning centers within the HTS layer. The samples were fabricated using STI's proprietary reactive coevaporation with cyclic deposition and reaction (RCE-CDR) technology to deposit the HTS material onto simplified templates. The templates themselves consist of a reduced number of layers and process steps compared to competing technologies.
Dr. Moeckly will also report on the fabrication and properties of coated conductor wire samples up to a meter in length.
