The Board of Directors of the USGBC-Illinois Chapter is pleased to announce the appointment of Brian Imus as the new Executive Director, effective September 9, 2013. Mr. Imus brings fifteen years of non-profit management experience to the Chapter, along with a passion for sustainability and the built environment. Since 2005 Mr. Imus served as the State Director of Illinois Public Interest Research group (Illinois PIRG). At Illinois PIRG he was responsible for developing and implementing overall strategy for the organization, as well as managing the operations and staff, developing policy positions, coordinating public education, advocacy and membership outreach."I am looking forward to bringing my experience for non-profit management and passion for sustainability to my new role at USGBC-Illinois," said Brian Imus. "Working with the talented staff and board of directors, there is a lot of potential to build on the Chapter's past successes. I can't wait to get started. "Mr. Imus has been involved with environmental issues and sustainability since graduating with a degree in Planning, Public Policy and Management from the University of Oregon's School of Architecture. From 1996 to 2005 Brian worked for the Public Interest Research Group in Michigan. He held positions including Field Organizer and Legislative Advocate assuming the role of State Director in 2002, which he held until moving to Illinois PIRG.Please take the opportunity to meet Brian in person at the Greening the Heartland conference, held in Chicago from September 9th through 11th.
