Brian was born and raised in San Francisco with many moments on the beach, starring at

worked in the social service field for four and a half years before answering the call to ministry in 2000 under the mentorship of Pastor Alan Ginn from Chinese Bible Church in Sacramento.
was off to Dallas Theological Seminary
within the first year of marrying Ellen.
He graduated with a Masters in Theology and a Masters of Christian Education in 2004.
is currently a faculty at Biola University
, teaching a class on "Beauty & Spirituality.
is also a juror for the 168 Film Project.
is the author of the book, The Purple Curtain: Living Out Beauty in Faith & Culture from a Biblical Perspective.
Brian has been a professional artist for nine years, dabbling in oils, acrylics and charcoals.
also enjoys wilderness backpacking, creative writing, reading, film-making, drama production, volleyball, and Chinese martial arts (esp. Wing Chun).

wife, Ellen, met in cognitive psychology class at UC Davis

However, at the time, she
was dating someone else, so they were just friends.
After graduation, serving in college ministry, and playing lots of video games together, they started dating (she broke up with her
