Bretta Beveridge, director of the Washington state chapter of the Tech Corps, will discuss the program at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the monthly meeting for the West Sound Technology Professionals Association. The meeting will be at the Poulsbo Library.

The Student Tech Corps is already under way in 10 states, but the program at Bremerton Junior High will be the first in this state, Beveridge said.
Before the students will be able to work on the help desk, they will have extensive training that covers the technical aspects of a help desk and customer service skills.
"The students will have to pass a test before they can man the help desk," she said.
Beveridge will discuss the program at the WSTPA in hopes of drumming up financial and volunteer support for the program.
"School districts have made significant investments in a wide variety of computer technology and Internet access for teachers, students and staff. However, inadequate tech support threatens the sizeable technology investment made by school districts and schools," Beveridge said.
