Established in 2015, AIRO was founded by leading Australian orthopaedic surgeon scientists Professor Riaz Khan and Associate Professor Daniel Fick, and Managing Director, Associate Professor Brett Robertson.
Associate Professor Brett Robertson Managing Director Since graduating from the University of Western Australia (UWA) with a PhD in peri-operative orthopaedic rehabilitation Brett has forged a strong career in health management and research administration. In 2007, he founded Physical Solutions a successful physiotherapy company in Perth, WA before joining one of Australia's leading medical research organisations, the Ear Science Institute of Australia (ESIA) as Chief Executive Officer. Whilst at ESIA he actively managed the construction, tenanting and ongoing operation of the Institutes AUD20 million clinical and medical research building. He was also the driving force behind the development and establishment of the Institutes state-of-the-art AUD2.7 million surgical simulation and medical training facility. Brett is an associate professor at the University of North Texas and at Curtin University of Technology, he has over 10 peer reviewed journals articles and over AU$11M secured in competitive grant funding. He has attended leadership workshops at the Harvard Business School in Boston, MA on scholarship from the Harvard Club of Australia, and is currently studying at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. He is a 40under40 winner (2015).

Brett Robertson - Chief Executive Officer
Dr Brett Robertson has over 15 years experience in the health and research industry and has combined his research and management skills in his position as CEO at the Ear Science Institute Australia (ESIA). Brett joined ESIA in May 2008 as General Manager and was elevated to his current position of CEO in July 2013. He currently also holds an Adjunct Research Fellow position with UWA. Prior to joining ESIA, Brett managed clinical services at the Perth Primary Care Network which included operational management of the 'Street Doctor' West Australia's first acrredited mobile medical service for marginalised people and communities. Other previous positions have included that of Director of the Hollywood Functional Rehabilitation Clinic, and Research Fellow with the University of Western Australia's School of Surgery. Brett is passionate about delivering quality evidenced based health services to individuals and the community at large. He is a Harvard Club of Australia Nonprofit Fellow.
