Millennial Press: USSA: S. Brent Scharman S. Brent Scharman, PhD, received his bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Utah and his PhD from BYU. He is a licensed psychologist. He has been employed by LDS Family Services for thirty-two years, where he is currently an assistant commissioner assigned to the development and supervision of international offices and where he chairs the Missionary Mental Health Committee for the Missionary Department. He is a former president of the Association of Mormon Counselors and Psychotherapists and Utah Psychological Association. He was recently released as the bishop of the maximum security and death-row unit at the Utah State Prison and is currently teaching the Family Relations class in his ward.
