"We'll provide postmarks up until midnight," said Brenda McGlone, supervisor of customer service support for the United States Postal Service at 200 N. Diamond St. Beginning this afternoon, Crossroads Church will offer hot dogs, and Pizza Hut will deliver pizzas throughout the evening, she said.Frito Lay will provide snacks and Pepsi will supply drinks. McGlone promised a party atmosphere tonight while customers mail their income tax.She said every year, people will wait until the last minute to file taxes for several reasons. Diehards wait because they do not want to pay the government any sooner than necessary, she said.Allied Health will provide blood pressure screening, McGlone said. All of these services are meant to bring a little relief to customers during this stressful tax season, she said. The post office will help by providing staff to send tax returns by first class, registered, express and certified mail through midnight tonight. Also, the drop boxes in the front of the main post office on North Diamond Street will be checked throughout the evening, she said. "I think a lot of our customers will wait till the last minute to file their taxes," McGlone said."It's a party atmosphere. It's our biggest customer appreciation day." And although the Christmas season and Mother's Day are busier, McGlone expects the post offices to be busy all day. "We have a mad dash before midnight," McGlone said.

McGlone said customers should make sure their steps or entry to their mailbox is clear. "The mail is getting through if the carriers can get to the mailboxes," McGlone said.
