Brenda Barker joined TIPQC as the full time Project Manager in 2008 and is currently the Project Director & Improvement Advisor. Brenda has been an educator, speaker, author, counselor, and for 14 years has worked in international medical relief and adoptions as the Southeast Regional Director of one of the largest US children's humanitarian organizations, overseeing four US offices and a team in 11 states. She has worked extensively around the world with government officials and orphanages, and at-risk children and their families. Brenda is also involved with the March of Dimes, Vermont Oxford Network, Davidson County Fetal Infant Review Community Action Team, and a Sunday School teacher. Brenda, was selected Ambassador of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, and her family was honored as the Family of the Year for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, and well as the The Family of the Year in 2007 by the State of TN. Brenda has been an activist on women's and children's issues, serving on President Carter's National Advisory Committee for Women, and a recipient of a US Congressional Award in 2001. Brenda brings the family perspective to TIPQC as a parent of three premies, including twin daughters, and as a parent of a son who won a hard fought six year battle with leukemia following a successful bone marrow transplant. Brenda received her Masters in Education from University of North Texas, her Improvement Advisor certificate from IHI, and is currently pursuing a MBA in Healthcare. Brenda lives in Brentwood, Tennessee with her husband and their international family of 9 children who were adopted from India, China, Latvia, Vietnam, and Ethiopia.

Brenda Barker has a variety of adoption experiences having worked in several capacities with Children's Hope since 1995.Brenda has been an adoption social worker, international adoption coordinator, worked in international adoption development, served nationally on adoption committees and is a published author.She has also traveled extensively overseas working with adoption officials and orphanages.She was recently a speaker at an international conference in Russia on foster care in the US, China and Russia.Brenda offers families a wealth of knowledge, as well as a loving, caring heart for the families as they choose adoption as a means of building their families.Brenda and her family received The Family of the Year in 1997 by the State of Tennessee Family and Children Services, and again by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in 2002.Brenda also received the Angels in Adoption Award in 2001 as one of two Tennesseans nominated by Congress.She also recently was named Ambassador of the Year for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.Brenda serves on the board of the Vanderbilt Medical Center International Adoption Center.
