President & CEO
Brenda Bailey-Hainer joined BCR as president and CEO in July 2006.
Active in national library organizations, she is currently president of ALA's ASCLA division.
She also serves on the advisory board of a new publication, Collaborative Librarianship, and on the editorial board of IRSQ.
Always looking for ways to improve services to library users, she
has been active in the Rethinking Resource Sharing Initiative since its inception.
was named among the 2002 "Movers and Shakers" by Library Journal
and awarded Librarian of the Year for 2001 by the Colorado Library Association
received the CLA Technology Project of the Year Award in 2004 for Colorado's Historic Newspaper Collection.
Prior to joining BCR, Brenda spent seven years as director of Networking and Resource Sharing at the Colorado State Library; four years with OCLC, most recently as director of Distributed Systems; eight years with CARL Corporation and UnCover; and several years in public service positions at Fort Lewis College (CO) and Morningside College (IA).
Brenda earned her MLS at Kent State University (OH); an MM in music literature from the University of South Dakota; and a BFA in creative writing from Bowling Green State University (OH).
In addition, she
has completed doctoral coursework in public policy at the University of Colorado at Denver
