The scary conversation about a market crash that's being avoided

deliveringalpha.com [cached]

Brandon Corso, director at Edelman Financial Services, said advisors who downplay potential losses are making a mistake.
"The more surprised a client is, the more disappointed they usually are, and that is when they tend to react emotionally," he said. Corso prefers having a frank discussion with clients about the risk in their portfolio. "The more we can get clients to ignore what might happen month to month in the market and instead focus on their long-term goals, the better," said Corso at Edelman.

Brandon Corso of Edelman Financial Services cautioned investors against dumping bonds out of their portfolios.
While Corso's firm has been warning investors of longer-term bonds, he said on "Closing Bell" that short and medium-term bonds are still positive year to date. Corso argued that investors should be investing in bonds not because of expectations for returns, but as protection against a correction in equities.

Brandon Corso, a financial planner with Virginia-based Edelman Financial Services, LLC (http://www.ricedelman.com/cs/invest_with_edelman/invest_with_edelman_financial_services), also fields inquiries from clients considering moves to CCRCs.
Corso says monthly service fees at some CCRCs seem high at first glance, but that is because they usually include a lot of perks. CCRC contract terms vary, so Corso advises clients to ask questions about monthly fee escalations, entrance deposit refund terms, and the financial stability of the company. And, as you would with any important contract, Corso says to have your attorney review it before you sign on the dotted line.
