Bradley Eason Ryon
, 19, a student at Western Carolina University
in Cullowhee, was arrested by campus police March 4, charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.The charges are pending in Jackson County.He
is scheduled to appear in District Court in Sylva on Tuesday.
According to court documents, Ryon
was found in possession of a half ounce of marijuana, a controlled substance (mushroom), four hypodermic syringes, four spoons with drug residue and one small pipe with drug residue on it.He
also tested positive for opiates on Jan. 4, according to the documents.Ryon
is scheduled to appear in Surry County Superior Court on April 22.
was charged with two counts of possession of OxyContin.In December 2001, Ryon
was placed on probation for two years; required to enroll in a substance abuse program; perform 100 hours of community service; pay a $500 fine; be subject to warrantless searches and seizures; must not be in possession of drugs; must not be around people who use drugs or in a drug house; must submit to drug testing; must participate in a drug education program and speak whenever asked to on the dangers of drug abuse.Surry County Superior Court Judge A. Moses Massey, who presided over the original case, said if Bradley Ryon completed his probation conditions, the charges would be stricken from his record.
