Designation as Naval Aviator in May of 1994.
then reported to HSL-48 where he
made two successful deployments aboard USS San Jacinto (CG56) and USS Elrod (FFG55).
From September 1998 until September 2001, Garber served on the OPNAV Staff as a CNO Briefer and Action Officer in OPNAV N312.
Following the attack on the Pentagon in September 2001, CDR Garber returned to OPNAV
N312 and was assigned to the CNO's Global War on Terrorism Planning Cell from October 2001 until October 2002 to develop plans for Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Following his Tour at the pentagon, Garber served at the Maintenance Officer at HSL-40 until October 2003 when he was assigned to HSL-44 as the Detachment Nine OIC.
After a successful deployment aboard USS Taylor (FFG50), Garber served as the HSL-44 Maintenance Officer.
From August 2005 until November 2007, Garber
was assigned to Navy Personnel Command PERS-43
(Aviation Assignments) where he
served as HS/HSL/HSM Placement Officer and as the Aviation Assistant Captain Detailer.
Prior to reporting to HSL-46 as executive officer, Garber served as Chief staff officer for HSMWINGLANT.
