Gold Sox Manager Brad Peek to Take Leave of Absence. The Yuba Sutter Gold Sox announced today that manager Brad Peek will take a leave of absence for the 2007 season due to his brother's illness.Peek will remain with the team as Director of Player Personnel and hopes to return as manager for the 2008 season.Peek, who has managed the Gold Sox for the last four years works for his family's cattle auction business Shasta Livestock in Cottonwood, California, along with his brother, sister and father.Peek said that he made the decision to take the leave of absence to focus on his brother and to take over some of his brother's duties as President of Shasta Livestock.Peek wants his brother to concentrate on his recovery from a recent bout with cancer. "My number one priority is doing whatever I can to help my brother beat this thing."said Peek."It came down to the fact that with my brother laid up, I can not cover the responsibilities to the family business and manage the Gold Sox at the same time.Under the circumstances, it was obvious to me that I needed to take a leave of absence so that I could be there to support my brother and family."Gold Sox Managing Partner, Tom Lininger commenting on Peek's decision said, "Brad and I talked at length about his decision to take a leave of absence.
