A great interview/article about our fearless drummer Brad Elvis.
Check it out here: thebestdrummerintheworld.com Chloe F. Orwell is a sultry singer and the creative talents of drummer and chief writer Brad Elvis, have given her a platform from which to take off, fly and swoop with abandon." "Fronted by sultry vocalist Chloe F. Orwell and powered by irrepressible drummer Brad Elvis, the Handcuffs came together several years ago as a duo, forming from the ashes of the local power-pop band Big Hello and drawing on a range of glam and cool pop influences from David Bowie to Blondie to Britpop. "Like bread and butter, Brad Elvis and Chloe Orwell, of the Chicago-based band The Handcuffs, work together to spread peace, passion and the power of rock with their second album, Electroluv." "The band's sophomore album 'Electroluv' continues the band's evolution as core 'Cuffs Brad Elvis and Chloe F. Orwell kick out teeth rattling pop tune after pop tune. And of course the icing on the smorgasbord is the signature sweltering, velvety hot sauce vocals from Chloe F. Orwell and the glue that holds it all together, the wall of sound drumming that sounds like a stampeding herd of a thousand arms battering away at the drum kit of Brad Elvis." "Unlike some bands that settle for imitation, Elvis and Orwell know that the reason their influences sounded so good was because they kept trying new things. Handcuffed to Brad and Chloe for eternity! "Brad and Chloe blow off a lot of the froth in a tougher but no less melodic approach, with guitars that hit harder and beats that mean more business...upping the ante all around makes the progression work as a respectable bid for chart potential. (Note: *Big Hello refers to Brad Elvis and Chloe F. Orwell's previous music group that could be considered the precursor to The Handcuffs.) After years of subtly shifting line-ups, the group, based around the core of singer Chloe F. Orwell and drummer Brad Elvis, have finally found what we believe is their strongest line-up to date. It's great to have Brad and Chloe back, and this album shows that they have many avenues to explore, and more than enough talent to make it worth following along with them." "Not only are Brad and Chloe two of the coolest people I know, but their music brings me back to my favorite place, the Swinging Sixties - yet still manages to sound completely modern and unquestionably hip." "The Handcuffs feature Brad Elvis, the coolest, showiest drummer you're ever going to see, and the gorgeous Chloe F. Orwell, whose voice will remind you of everyone while being unique to itself as well. (editor's note: *Again, Big Hello refers to Brad Elvis and Chloe F. Orwell's previous music group that could be considered the precursor to The Handcuffs.) Elvis & Orwell cover photo by Sam Pillsbury.

We are proud of our own Brad Elvis, who was recently asked to sit in as guest drummer for part of the set with two blasts from the past, The Bangles and The Beach Boys, at sold-out shows in Chicago at the City Winery and Ravinia respectively.
Brad was also interviewed for an article in The Huffington Post, written by New York City-based writer and raconteur Binky Phillips. Drummer and journalist/blogger Ian Lee recently interviewed our own drummer Brad Elvis for a feature on his Best Drummer in the World blog. Check out the creatively titled article Who the Fuck is Brad Elvis now. Elvis & Orwell cover photo by Sam Pillsbury.

The Handcuffs: News
The brilliant new comedy special "Wendy Liebman: Taller on TV," which premiered November 5 on Showtime, features four songs by The Handcuffs, as well as a few brief on-camera appearances, during the show in the audience (bottom right corner of your screen) and during the closing credits in the stills, by 'Cuffs principals Brad Elvis and Chloe F. Orwell.
Thanks to our own Brad Elvis for lending his throne to Clem for a song and for snapping some photos from the crowd! So, along with bassist Emily Togni, lead guitarist Lennie Dietsch, vocalist Chloe F. Orwell and drummer Brad Elvis we are officially five on stage. And, a recent addition to Net Flix is "The Education of Shelby Knox," which features a handful of Handcuffs songs, as well as additional songs written by our own Brad Elvis. The song was co-produced by our own Brad Elvis along with Chloe and the mad genius writer of the song (and co-vocalist), Mr. John Steele. And last, but not least, singer Chloe and drummer Brad will be jetting to London in early January for a few meetings and interviews. Look for drummer Brad Elvis in the interview segments of a VH1 special celebrating the top 100 songs of the 80s (the 80s are back, you know. Hello, leggings and stripes and synthesizers) coming up in October. A rock music archivist, historian, record collector and all around master of wit, Brad was asked about various hit songs from that era and insiders say he was funny as f**k during the hour-long inquisition. We have no idea which bits and pieces of drummer Brad's interview the VH1 people will choose to show, but we'll keep you posted.

Our New BFF: Handcuffs' Brad Elvis
Call it a slick marketing ploy or simply an instance of perfect timing, but following a closely-watched (term used loosely...) and no doubt hotly contested (Tw1tters The Cat , for one, wanted to be the pick) contest, Chicago's Brad Elvis is BLURT's 4,000 thTwitter follower. No doubt having followed our progress on Twitter as we neared that milestone number, Brad pounced - like Tw1tters did, but with fingers, not paws - when we announced we would award "fabulous prizes" to our 4,000 th follower. Brad, sharp eyed BLURT readers may recall, is also a founding member and the "four-handed" drummer for The Handcuffs, who we recently profiled on the site. Hey, he obviously had a vested interest in subscribing to our Twitter feed! He also informed us that he is nearing his own milestone - his 4,000 th gig, which includes a long musical career with the Handcuffs and other outfits (among them, The Romantics). That's Brad above, pictured with band vocalist Chloe Orwell, "the designated blonde" of the duo. Brad, you rock, your band rocks, and your gifts are en route to Chicago where they will be delivered personally by 8 nubile BLURT interns all in various stages of undress.
