Recently I had the opportunity to hear from some people who are very active in this market: Frank Ditore, Product Marketing Manager, Agilent EEsof EDA; Brad Brannon, Systems Applications Engineer, Analog Devices; David Bailey, Analog Marketing Manager for TI's Wireless Infrastructure group and Ram Sathappan, Software Defined Radio Marketing Manager, TI; and Rodger Hosking, Vice-President, Pentek, Inc.
Brannon: There are various implementations of SDR, many of which are already being adopted into mainstream designs. For example, many communication system designers are already designing wideband transceivers that can be used with a wide variety of waveforms. Brannon: From a technical point of view, the bottle neck is usually the ADC in the receive path. Brannon:Next gen SDR will largely be transparent to the end user.
