Bonnie Borshay Sneed, director of choral activities and associate professor of music, joined the faculty at Denison University in Granville, Ohio in 2005.She
has taught a variety of courses for colleges in Michigan, Oklahoma, and from 1991-2003 was the director of choral activities at the University of Alabama
in Huntsville.During her
tenure there, Ms. Sneed
conducted several choral ensembles, taught conducting, voice and music education, performed major works with orchestra, supervised student teachers and embarked on two tours of Europe with the UAH Choirs.In 2004 she
conducted the Morski Zgutsi community choir of Varna, Bulgaria in the sixth annual Varna International Conductors workshop.In 2006 Ms. Sneed
conducted the Denison University
Chamber Singers and Orchestra on an eight-day tour of Italy, including performances in the Duomo in Florence, Venice and Milan.At Denison she
conducts the chamber singers, women's choir, and concert choir, and teaches conducting and introduction to music. Ms. Sneed earned her bachelor's of music in music education from Furman University, and her master's of music in choral conducting from Southern Methodist University.
also has sung with the Robert Shaw Festival Singers for a week-long workshop and performance of Verdi's Requiem. Ms. Sneed is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Pi Kappa Lambda, an editor of Renaissance choral octavos for National Music Publishing, and has published articles and reviews in the Choral Journal.
In 2005 National Music Publishing
arrangement for choir and chamber orchestra of the "Finale" to Mahler's Symphony No. 2.She has been a frequent adjudicator for choral contests and festivals in several states and served as one of the national judges for collegiate choirs auditioning for the 2005 ACDA national choral convention.She is a member of the American Choral Directors Association and the Music Educator's National Conference.
